CAYA Formally Adopts Its 2026 Constitution
A new governing framework sets out CAYA’s four-tier leadership structure, formalises the Champions Council, and establishes continental operational guidelines — cementing CAYA’s shift from founding vision to lasting institution.
The China-Africa International Youth Alliance has formally adopted its governing Constitution, marking a defining step in the organisation’s evolution from founding vision to permanent, structured institution.
The Constitution establishes CAYA’s four-tier governance framework: Founders & Vision Stewards as non-executive guardians of CAYA’s founding vision and values; the CAYA Champions Council, bringing together eminent African, Chinese, and international leaders who lend their influence, access, and credibility to the Alliance; a Board of Directors holding the highest governing authority over strategy, budgets, policy, and accountability; and Executive Leadership, responsible for day-to-day operations across Programmes & Chapter Development, Partnerships & Investor Relations, Membership & Alumni Engagement, Communications & Brand, Finance & Administration, and Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning.
The Constitution also sets continental operational guidelines for Campus Chapters, each of which will continue to be led by an elected Chapter Executive Committee — President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Heads of Programmes, Partnerships, and Membership/Outreach — operating under a formal Chapter Charter.
“This isn’t paperwork,” the announcement noted internally. “It’s what lets universities, investors, and governments trust CAYA as an institution built to last — not a project that depends on any one person.”
With governance now formally codified, CAYA moves forward with a clear operational foundation as it continues expanding Campus Chapters across Africa, China, and beyond.
